For the first time since 1997 the OTTO LINNE AWARD for Urban Landscape Architecture will be granted in Hamburg. Beginning in 2009 the international gartenschau hamburg 2013 gmbh, together with the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg's Ministry of City Development and Environment will grant the award for urban landscape architecture in an ideas competition. The competition is intended to promote young talent in this field, i.e. students and young graduates (up to the age of 39) from Germany and abroad.
Neumühlen Water Terraces
In recognition of Otto Linne's 140th birthday, Hamburg would like to encourage interested participants to investigate a hillside site on the northern bank of the Elbe in Hamburg Altona. Participants are expected to focus on the existing public park, the site's special hydrological situation, and the developmental history of the area, and should upgrade and develop the site into Altona's new water terraces.
12,000 euros in prize money
