IFLAs reglement mht medlemskap -

NLA er tilsluttet IFLA - den internasjonale føderasjonen for landskapsarkitekter. Kun en forening i hvert land kan være medlem. Krav til medlemskap i IFLA er "a spesific Landscape Architecture Department, fully recognised by law" (vedtektsfestet).

 1) As far as IFLA EUROPE's statutes go, these state very clearly that:
" II. CONSTITUTION ,  ARTICLE 2.
The Federation shall comprise national associations of landscape architects of member countries of the European Union, the European Economic Area or signatories to bilateral accords recognising the European Union's Directives concerning the free movement of labour and all the members of the Council of Europe with the sole condition that the association has made a membership request to the Federation.
The Federation shall recognise only one national association in each country."

2) NLA is at the moment IFLA EUROPE's effective member/national association in Norway, and until NLA does not officialy hand its resignation as IFLA EUROPE member, it will remain so.

3) If, for any reason, NLA wishes to resign from IFLA EUROPE, whichever new association willing to become the new effective member in Norway would need to apply for Effective membership, in accordance with IFLA Europe's Statutes. This new association, as statutes confirm, must be fully recognised by law, meaning that if you were to decide to join the Architects' Chamber, you would need to set up a specific Landscape Architecture Department and have it fully recognized by law. This is done to insure that one of our main objectives, also included in the Statutes, of determining “... the establishment of the unique and stand-alone profession of landscape architecture in all its diverse and very often specific forms” is achieved.
 " II. CONSTITUTION ,  ARTICLE 2.
National associations must be appropriately constituted legal bodies in their own countries and, by attaining membership of  the Federation shall be required to become a member of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA)."
Again, please, do bear in mind this can only be done after NLA's official resignation.

Finally, it is our will also to stress the importance that you do arrive at a consensus between your members, ensuring democratic processes throughout, so that the result is a strong, healthy association that will be capable of defending the entire profession in your country."
