1. About us

IFLA Europe - the European Region of International Federation of Landscape Architects IFLA Europe is a not‐for‐profit organisation that represents, supports, and promotes stand‐alone profession of landscape architecture across Europe recognising excellence in educational courses and promoting best practice operations in all member countries. 

Formerly established in 1989 as EFLA - the European Foundation for Landscape Architecture,  IFLA EUROPE is the largest of the five regions that currently comprise the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), a global organisation founded in 1946 and recognised by UNESCO as the official body representing and advancing this unique profession.

IFLA Europe has 34 members organisations – National Associations of Landscape Architecture representing nearly 20.000 landscape architects. It aims not only at promoting the landscape architecture profession, recognising excellence in educational courses, and promoting the best practice operations in all member countries, but also striving to enhance the quality of landscape planning, monitoring, and management in collaboration with the European Union, Council of Europe, UN and any other related organisations.

2. Job description

IFLA Europe is looking for a motivated, talented and skilled part-time Team Assistant to support IFLA Europe in its daily tasks and projects. Successful candidate will be working on a part-time basis for the period January 2025 - December 2025, as freelancer on a service contract.  It is desirable that the "Team Assistant" is a landscape architect or is coming from a related academic background (landscape, environment), and that he/she has some experience on EU funded research projects management and advanced communication skills.

He/she could be a member of a National Association of Landscape Architects, or any other professional association related to landscape. Above all, the Team Assistant should have at least 3 years of previous experience in EU funded Projects. High level of written and spoken English is required. He/She can be based anywhere in Europe since most of the work will be done remotely. 

The Team Assistant will work closely with the IFLA Europe Executive Council (ExCO), Executive Secretary and Secretary General who is in charge of human resources. He/she will assist with the management and communication of the research Projects of IFLA Europe, and help the Vice President for Communications and Executive Secretary regarding organisation and dissemination of IFLA Europe activities.

3. Tasks and responsibilities 

  • EU funded projects
    - To ensure that communication, dissemination and project management activities related to EU funded projects
    -  Interreg EuroMED 'Bauhaus4Med', Interreg North Sea 'Green Team' and Horizon Europe 'ReValue' are appropriately delivered. Furthermore, to ensure the visibility of our actions e.g. in EU funded projects, and use IFLA Europe’s social media channels to disseminate information.
    - To deliver any reports required for the Bauhaus4Med, Green Team and ReValue projects and to report to the IFLA Europe EXCO about the progress of the programs.
    - To participate in partner’s meetings of the above projects and to identify all opportunities for further cooperation with IFLA Europe. 
    - To assist IFLA Europe Treasurer and Financial Manager with the financial administration of the above projects.  
    - To assist the Executive Secretary with IFLA Europe daily tasks and duties including activities related to the EU funded projects, organization of conferences, etc. 
    - Communications
    - To assist the IFLA Europe Vice President of Communication and Executive Secretary with the search and content writing for website and social media, as well as the editing of website content.
    - Good knowledge of social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) is required and experience in designing and editing documents (Canva).
    - To organize and follow-up webinars and conferences of IFLA Europe and to prepare press releases after events.

The Team Assistant cannot commit IFLA Europe to any action without the written approval of the IFLA Europe EXCO.

IFLA Europe ExCO will establish a one-year contract with a probation period of 3 months and if satisfactory, at the end of the contract there will be a possibility to renew it.

4. Requirements

Applicants must at a minimum meet the following requirements:

  • - A University degree at Master Level in Landscape Architecture or related discipline. PhD is not required, but it is considered as an extra qualification
    - At least 3 years’ experience and 2 years in EU project management and communication 
    - Demonstrate excellent skills in written and spoken English  
    - Have experience in working in an international environment and present good communication skills.
    - Advance level MS Office and Excel required
    - Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
    - Prepared to multitask, prioritize and meet tight deadlines
    - Must be able to uphold a strict level of confidentiality
    - Ability to adapt to a challenging environment
